If a Dry-O-Tron is running but the pool room still feels humid, the cause is not always the compressor or the age of the unit. Indoor pool humidity control depends on the complete system: refrigeration, airflow, controls, ventilation and the actual moisture load in the space.
Confirm the symptom before replacing equipment
Start by documenting what the room is doing. Note the current room temperature and relative humidity, whether the problem is constant or seasonal, and whether condensation is appearing on windows or other cold surfaces. Also record any alarms, fault messages or recent changes to operating schedules.
Restricted airflow can look like a capacity problem
Dirty filters, fouled coils, blocked grilles, closed dampers or fan problems can reduce the amount of conditioned air reaching the pool room. The dehumidifier may be operating, but the air distribution system may not be delivering enough dry air where it is needed.
Controls and sensors can mislead the system
Humidity and temperature sensors are part of the control loop. If a sensor is inaccurate, poorly located or no longer representative of room conditions, the equipment can respond to the wrong information. A technician should compare displayed values with reliable field measurements before drawing conclusions.
The load may have changed
- Higher pool-water temperature
- Added spa or water feature
- More swimmers or longer operating hours
- Changes to outdoor-air ventilation
- Doors or windows being left open more often
- Building-envelope or glazing changes
Any of these can increase the moisture load or change how the room behaves. A system that was appropriate for the original design may struggle after the space is altered.
Maintenance still matters
Dectron’s current maintenance guidance emphasizes clean air filters and clean air-side coils as fundamental maintenance items. A neglected system can lose performance without a single dramatic failure.
Diagnose the whole pool environment
Persistent humidity should be investigated as a system problem, not just an equipment problem. King Air services Dectron / Dry-O-Tron systems and indoor-pool HVAC throughout Ontario. See our Dry-O-Tron service page or contact us for a practical assessment.
