King Air / Indoor pool dehumidification / Assessment
Repair or replace?Start with the evidence.
An aging indoor pool dehumidifier does not automatically need to be replaced. King Air assesses the equipment, the surrounding mechanical system and the problems you are experiencing before recommending the next step.

Old equipment.
Not automatically obsolete.
Indoor pool dehumidifiers are large, specialized systems. Replacing one can involve equipment cost, access, ductwork, piping, electrical work, controls and disruption to the property.
Before committing to a replacement, King Air can assess whether the existing system appears serviceable, whether a targeted repair or staged retrofit is practical, or whether replacement is the more sensible long-term path.
Our family has maintained some of the same Dry-O-Tron systems for more than 30 years. That experience helps us recognize when an older machine still has useful life and when continuing to repair it no longer makes sense.
What we look at
The machine.
And everything around it.
The goal is to understand the cause of the problem before deciding how much of the system needs to change.
What is actually failing?
Review the dehumidifier, refrigeration circuit, compressors, blowers, sensors, controls and visible service history.
Is the unit being asked to solve the right problem?
Consider humidity, air temperature, pool-water temperature, airflow and condensation patterns.
What would a repair or replacement affect?
Review access, ductwork, piping, electrical connections, boiler integration and other work that may shape the project.
Four possible outcomes
A recommendation.
Not a predetermined sale.
The right answer depends on condition, parts, performance, access and the owner’s long-term plans.
Correct a specific failure.
When the core system remains serviceable, a focused repair may be the most practical response.
Address several age-related issues.
For some legacy systems, staged service work can stabilize operation without immediately replacing the entire unit.
Improve part of the system.
Controls, ductwork, heating connections or other components may need improvement even when the entire machine does not.
Plan the project properly.
When replacement is the better path, the assessment helps define equipment needs, access, surrounding mechanical work and project scope.
Useful before a major decision
When this assessment
makes sense.
- Your unit is 15+ years old
- A contractor has recommended full replacement
- The system has been shut down for an extended period
- Repairs have become frequent
- Humidity or condensation persists
- The dehumidifier is difficult to remove from the building
- You are planning a renovation or pool upgrade
- You want a second opinion before a major capital expense
An assessment is not a guarantee that an older unit can be repaired. It is a way to make the repair-versus-replacement decision with more information.
What to send us first
Help us understand
the system quickly.
A few details can make the first conversation much more useful.
Model and serial number
Photograph the equipment label and the full unit, including visible controls.
What changed?
Describe alarms, humidity issues, unusual noises, leaks, shutdowns or recent repairs.
Show the mechanical room.
Photos of access, ductwork, piping and the pool room help us understand the installation.
Repair. Retrofit. Replace.
Make the decision
with better information.
Tell King Air about the equipment, the symptoms and the property. We will help determine the right starting point.
